I finally jumped on the bandwagon this summer and stenciled a rug for my patio. I love the graphic impact the design brings to the seating area. Even after all the stenciled rugs I’ve seen around, I was still blown away when I saw the rug created by Lydia from Pudel-Design for the reading nook in her bedroom. Lydia made her own stencil, then traced it onto the entire rug, and hand painted it. I can only imagine the tedium involved in this process, but Lydia’s results are simply astounding!
Lydia was inspired by the Tasksim Rug from West Elm.
Check out Lydia’s entire process at Pudel-Design.

Omg….what a great rug. I am on a hunt now to find a great stencil! Thanks for posting this. I just stopped over to see Lydia!!! She has great stuff!
Did you see how Lydia created her own stencil from a design she found on the internet similar to her West Elm inspiration? Of course you can buy a ready-made stencil too, but I loved Lydia’s idea to get the exact design you want and save some money!
I love the rug, but that chandelier is to die for.
Lydia made that too! If you click on the link above, you will find a link in Lydia’s rug tutorial that takes you to the tutorial for the chandelier. There are some great projects over at Lydia’s site! Enjoy!
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much Beckie!!!!
I am so happy about this feature!;)
Such things really made my day! LOve if I can inspire other people by my DIY projects!
Thank you!
Love and hugs from Germany…

I love your rug, Lydia, and am thrilled to be able to feature it! I know many will be inspired by it. Nice work!
I am so in love with the idea of making my own rug, but Ikea no longer carries the rug that everyone has been using for this project. Does anyone know of a good alternative – inexpensive and the right quality? Thanks!
