An old piece of furniture is often so solidly built, it will last almost forever. If you have one of these old pieces, the chances that it will fit into your decor are really slim. If you like the style of the piece, a makeover using paint may be just what it needs to come back to life.
Christan from diyswank had a French style dresser that she wanted to use, but the black paint was neither attractive nor updated enough to use. In order to re-paint the dresser, Christan started by sanding as much of the old paint off as she could. After vacuuming and wiping off all parts of the dresser, she was ready to start painting, using a small roller on the drawers.
Christan used two coats of a paint that already had a primer in it, so the painting went quickly. After replacing the hardware, she had a new piece.
