Painting Old Furniture

There is always a debate on painting or not painting an antique piece of wood furniture. There are people who would gasp in horror at the thought of applying paint to any wood furniture, but sometimes paint is the best solution when the piece in question has wood that is almost impossible to refinish any other way. Lindsay from mycreativedays painted an antique chest of drawers that was in remarkably poor condition, and the result could not have been prettier.

Lindsay provides a complete list of supplies need to complete this project and instructs us on the exact procedure with plenty of detailed photos. Because the color of the paint she chose for this project was not quite the darkness she wanted, Lindsay applied a coat of black wax over the two coats of paint.

She spread the wax on with a cloth so most of the grain of the wood still shows through. Finally, new hardware completed the makeover.
