As I recently shared on Infarrantly Creative, I am changing things up in my family room after about ten years of the same color scheme.
My first big undertaking was painting striped curtains.
Considering color, pattern, price, and length, I always have trouble finding just the right curtains, so painting my own was the perfect option.
I absolutely love how they came out and cannot believe the difference they make!
My inspiration came from Crate & Barrel’s Alston Ivory/Gray Curtain Panel.

What a surprise to know you can paint your curtains! Thanks for sharing this project, I want to try this project. I have similar windows just right for it! The curtains stripes sure make the room appear larger. Great job!

Great job...but how did you keep the paint from showing through to the other side? From the photo, it appears that the side of the curtain facing outside remains white...yes? Did these curtains have a laminated lining?

Great questions! The panels I used were pretty thick so I did not have any problems with bleed through, so yes, the other side is still white. Here are the curtains I used...http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00120979/#. I wrote a post on IC with tips for painting fabric that you may find helpful too... http://www.infarrantlycreative.net/2012/10/top-tips-for-painting-fabric.html. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Ohhh love the way they make the bank of windows look larger - as if you have a full wall of glass behind them! And the horizontal lines really widen things! Great job!
