Upgrade An Old Window To A Chalkboard

Flea markets, yard sales, thrift shops – who doesn’t love to discover a real find to take home and upgrade? Brooke from anastasiavintage shows us how to create a rustic and functional message board from an old window.

She used a small window for her project, but certainly, any size will do for this project. After removing the glass panes from the window, Brooke sanded, painted, and applied a coat of glaze to keep the original shabby chic look, but with the new paint, there won’t be any chips falling off. She then purchased a sheet of hardboard and cut it into rectangles the size of the glass panes she had removed earlier. After priming the hardboard, Brooke painted the sections with three coats of chalkboard paint.

Finally, she adhered the chalkboard “panes” to the back of the window and added a hook for hanging to the back of the window.
