Check out these cute snow globes Heather from At The Picket Fence made out of mason jars. If you don’t have some already, mason jars are so easy to get your hands on. People often will just give them away, or they can also be found through Craigslist or Freecycle. Heather simply filled her jars with fake snow and small, inexpensive items from the dollar store and Wal-mart. Easy peasy!
Heather was inspired by the Mason Jar Snow Globes from Anthropologie.

Great idea! Have you tried using the solar lids for the mason jars? They are awesome! You need to keep the jar upright but can still make your snow globe. All you do is screw on the solar lid & when it gets dark, it lights up your jar beautifully. I have several on my porch & it looks great at night. They really do give off a lot of light. I made one for my grandson (put cat eye marbles in it) and gave it to him for a nightlight. I bought my solar lids at Ridgeway's Country Star (www.ridgewayscountrystar.com) for $12.95 each.
