For under ten dollars, Kate from Magic City Thistle was able to make her own captain’s style mirror. A bamboo tray she found on clearance at Target and two thrift store belts were key to Kate’s thrifty design. She says the worn leather belts gave it just the aged look she was after!
Kate was inspired by the Round Leather Mirror from Ballard Designs.

I really like the vintage look. and what a unique way to hang an otherwise basic wood framed mirror. It is very clever.

So glad you like it, Angela! The belts were a very clever and thrifty idea on Kate's part. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.

LOVE IT, pinned it, hopefully going to make it when we move into a larger space and have a need for more wall decor. This perfectly matches the antique, slightly masculine look I love!
Is the hot glue holding up well? Does it seem sturdy?

Hi Jen, thank you, I'm glad you like my little project - yes, the hot glue is holding firm. I chose a craft mirror which is very light and the 2 leather belts plus a little hot glue seem to be holding the tray in place really well.
