Farmhouse Style Shelf from Shutters

Jason and Tricia from Simplicity in the South saw a Ballard Designs Shutter Shelf in a catalog and knew they could recreate it for a fraction of the $250 price tag. They even had similar shutters sitting in their garage! They used three shutters and gave them a rounded edge by hand with a jig saw, adding industrial brackets to hold up the shelves. A coat of whitewash gives the shelves that perfect designer finish. This shelf set is perfect for a living room or even a bathroom with lots of wall space.

Here is Tricia’s finished shutter shelf.

This is the designer original from Ballard Designs.
