Gregory from The Navage Patch turned a boring bedroom wall into a stunning feature for just $15!
His son’s wall was a dull, uninspiring color—he even described it as “a boiled frog.” That had to go!
After scraping off some unfortunate “wall warts” left by the previous homeowners, he painted the wall in Sherwin Williams’ Sea Serpent, a deep blue-gray that instantly added drama.
Then came the magic:
DIY wood slats! Gregory cut 1×2 furring strips into various lengths (10 to 30 inches) and stained them with Minwax Special Walnut—a classic favorite for that warm, rich wood tone.
Using brad nails and a little construction adhesive where needed, Gregory secured the slats in a perfectly spaced pattern from ceiling to floor.
To add functionality, he cleverly built two floating shelves right into the slats using the same wood. Brilliant!
This entire project cost only $15, proving that high-end style doesn’t have to come with a high-end price tag.
