When you’re furnishing a house, one important consideration, of course, is the cost of the furnishings you need. Rather than spending money needlessly, you can do what Shaunna from perfectlyimperfect did and refinish a piece of perfectly functional furniture instead of replacing it with something new.
Shaunna used a combination of washing the piece and dry brushing it. Although she doesn’t go into great detail in this post as to exactly how she achieved the finish she wanted, she does provide a link to her e-book which describes in great detail and with numerous photos how she created the look and was able to maintain the grain of the wood showing through on the chest. One of the great things about her technique is that it will hide any water damage to wood, but it also allows the grain to show through.
