DIY Anthropologie-Inspired Nightstand Transformation

DIY Anthropologie Inspired Nightstand Transformation

Christina from Flipdaddie on TikTok just pulled off an insane transformation on a $12 Goodwill nightstand, turning it into a high-end Anthropologie dupe!

First up, she removed the old hardware and filled in the holes with wood filler.

Next, sanding and priming—because just like skincare before makeup, prep is key for a smooth finish!

Christina even added new legs, swapping out the old base to give it a sleek, modern feel.

Now, the real magic—hand-painting a faux wood grain using gel stain and a wood grain tool.

The result?

A shockingly realistic wood effect!

To match the inspo’s carved drawer detail, Christina traced the pattern onto basswood, cut it out, and painted it to blend perfectly with the faux wood grain.

After gluing the design onto the drawer fronts and adding stunning new knobs, this piece was almost unrecognizable!

The final step?

Sealing everything with polyurethane for a durable, lasting finish.

This flip proves you don’t need a huge budget to create high-end home decor!

@flipdaddie Back with another Anthropologie inspired furniture flip! I’m actually so shocked by how similar it looks to the inspo!! What do you guys think? I used my @HART Tools 20-Volt Cordless Random Orbit Sander and Dust Bag, Cordless Drill/Driver Kit, and Retractable Utility knife, helping me get this flip done A LOT quicker😊 #HARTPartner #DoItWithHART #furnituremakeover #anthropologiedupe #anthropologiehome #goodwillfinds #thriftflip #diyonabudget #onabudgetdecor #furniturerestoration ♬ Walking Around – Instrumental Version – Eldar Kedem

What People Are Saying

Christina’s project has received great feedback, with three key points emerging from the comments:

Attention to Detail & Symmetry

Some viewers pointed out minor asymmetries in the design, like decorative pieces not aligning perfectly or patterns being too uniform.

Adjusting these details could enhance the final look to your own liking.

Material & Technique Suggestions

Commenters recommended using Bondo instead of wood filler for better durability, varying the wood grain roller for a more natural look, and trying different brush techniques to improve the finish.
