What makes this table unlike any other in the world? It’s top is covered with a map custom designed by creator Claire from Pillar Box Blue. Instead of adhering paper to the top of the table with adhesive, she used an image transfer technique with Mod Podge.
Now if you are new to image transferring, you will certainly want to read Claire’s instructions for getting it done. Not only does her explanation make sense, she includes close up pictures to help you along the process. In her example, Claire used maps to cover her tabletop, but you can choose other images such as loved pets, your children, or vintage pictures for a steampunk theme.
Her table is from Ikea but she says that you can use any table to add images to. She selected chalk paint to avoid having to prep the surface. This is a great project to repurpose a forgotten piece of furniture. Have fun creating your unique tabletop.
