Have you been storing a piece of furniture that you just can’t get rid of because it has good bones, you inherited it from someone you loved, or you bought it on a whim, you still like it, but it doesn’t go with your decor? If this is the case, consider a makeover the way Shaunna at Perfectly Imperfect did with an unusual finish.
The console table she started with was a classic style from a former house. Because she wanted to modernize the piece and make it fit into its new surroundings, Shaunna decided to use a dark matte finish. She painted over the entire piece, including painting over the hardware with Graphite Chalk Paint. This gave the piece a monochromatic modern look. Then she used black wax adding more in grooves and inlays highlight them. Finally, she buffed out the wax leaving more in those areas.
The final look of the table is one that will easily fit into any modern setting.
