Playroom Toy Storage System–The Easy Way!

Pottery-Barn-Kids-cameron-storage-knock-off.jpg

Brit from House Updated just finished converting a corner of her basement into a playroom. Storage was a must, so Brit combined a couple of different storage systems, including an Expedit-like unit she had on hand and a couple of kitchen cupboards from Ikea, to make her own Pottery Barn-esque storage system. She says, “This way I got all the extra storage and could customize it too! I fancied it up with painted fabric bins and colorful chalkboard labels and now the kids know exactly where to put their stuff. I love organization that looks good too!”

Jumbo Watercolor Paint Palette Wall Décor

watercolor-palette-wall-decor.jpg

I love harboring my kids’ creativity and think an important part of that is creating a special space for them to display their work. Courtney of Crafts by Courtney made an adorable wall for showcasing her kiddo’s creativity with this jumbo paint palette and clipboard gallery wall. Courtney was able to make the paint palette for around $20 using a board and bottles of craft paint. It is perfect for adding color to a space and making a statement on a long wall.

Constellation Wall Canvas with Lights

Allison of Refunk My Junk wanted to give her little astronaut’s room a fun space-themed makeover but was struggling in the wall art department. Pottery Barn Kids came to the rescue with inspiration, and Allison morphed their constellation wall mural and rug to create her own DIY wall art. Allison even outdid Pottery Barn by making her stars actually light up with white Christmas lights. What kid wouldn’t go crazy for glowing wall décor?

Jaime of That’s My Letter and Ana White have been working their magic again – but with a new twist! And she walks you through the entire process step-by-step so you can make a one-of-a-kind bed industrial bed too.

Painted Stripe Oar Wall Décor

Krista of The Happy Housie turned ordinary clear varnished paddles from a sporting supply store into knock-off versions of the Oar Décor from Pottery Barn Kids as part of revamping her sons’ new shared bedroom space. I am sure it comes as no surprise that paint was all it took to make these paddles come to life. I totally love the bright pops of color against the crisp white planked wall.

Kids Dr. Seuss Bathroom with Wall Mural

dr-seuss-bathroom.jpg

Angela from Decorating the Dorchester Way really wanted to decorate her son’s bathroom with the Pottery Barn Kids’ Dr. Seuss bathroom theme, but it was no longer available. Not wanting to dish out the cash for eBay prices, Angela replicated the look with paint and some Target accessories. Angela used a projector for the fish and then free handed the rest of her mural. Pretty stinking impressive! I love how she incorporated lots of cute details from stenciled accessories to the iconic Dr. Seuss hat.

Paint Your Own Chalkboard Frames

chalkboard-frames.jpg

Arien from One Krieger Chick came across a chalkboard frame in the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and immediately thought, “How easy would that be to make!” As easy as a couple of coats of chalkboard paint – that’s how easy! I love how Arien had her boys write their own names on the frames for a personal touch. Now she has wall art in her living room and pictures of her darling boys to boot!

DIY Twin Bed Fit for a Queen

diy-twin-bed.jpg

Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic wanted to build a girly bed for her daughter and found just what she was looking for in Ana White’s tall panel headboard. Ana whipped up plans for a twin version with a footboard and side rails that are nice and high to provide plenty of storage space underneath. All that beautiful molding reminds me of a throne! Just like Ana says, this bed certainly is “fit for a queen.”
