At the beginning of each new year, Bethany from Pitter and Glink is always filled with hope for good things to come. When she saw a holiday plate from Bloomingdale’s that featured the word “hope,” she just had to knock if off. Bethany used a dollar store plate and some paint pens to recreate the festive plate in less than ten minutes!

After seeing some awesome vintage play kitchens for kids, Kayla Danelle decided to tackle her own repurpose and make one for her son. Kayla’s dad got in on the action and tracked down a set of upper kitchen cabinets to transform into the kitchen set. I love how this came out and the genius idea to reuse old cabinets. Why start from scratch when the work’s already done for you {Wink}?

Barn lights can be uber expensive, but Mary from At Home on the Bay found a way to turn an inexpensive IKEA pendant into a barn light look-a-like for her kitchen. It really was as simple as spray painting the pendant and popping in an Edison bulb for a more authentic look. I am currently redecorating my living room with aqua and yellow and totally dig the entire look Mary has going here!

Natalie from Sophisticated Yellow showed her dining room table a little love this holiday season by dressing it up with this lovely monogrammed table runner. All it requires is a few yards of fabric, some stencils, and two straight seams on the sewing machine – nothing to it! Natalie also points out that it would be make a “stylish and heartfelt” gift.

Here’s what she has to say: “I saw this little guy on the Terrain website, and thought it was so cute and totally doable! I used a small sized Christmas bauble, some newsprint, and some craft glue and went to town! I finished it off with some paint for the eyes, and now he’s happily perched on my tree.”

When you think of a kitchen mat, I am sure fun is not a word that comes to your mind. However, Laura from Markham Street Designs shows that a kitchen mat can be full of life and personality! Laura took her old foam kitchen mat and painted it to resemble a zigzag mat she spotted in a magazine. Even dishes would be a little more fun standing on this mat {wink}!
