Kasia from Upcycle This DIY That just turned everyday plastic bottles into stunning faux concrete candlestick holders. This is so cool!
She started with almond milk bottles (those curved shapes are perfect!) and filled them with sand for weight.
Then, she created a stone-like texture by layering tissue and PVA glue—simple but so effective.
In Version 1, she spray-painted the whole thing with concrete spray and topped it with a clay-made cap, then dry-brushed with layers of gray and white chalk paint for that realistic stone finish.
Version 2 is a paint-only version—no spray paint needed! Just layers of chalk paint in different grays and whites to get that aged, textured look.
The third version gets a little more advanced with plaster and clay detailing, but it really brings a sculptural vibe to the project.
If you’re new to DIY, stick with Version 1 or 2—they’re beginner-friendly and super fun.
The clay caps are totally customizable too, and Kasia walks you through all the steps with plenty of tips along the way.
For that concrete look without the mess or weight, this is a winner!
